Account Deletion

This page explains how to delete your PerformanceLens account, what happens when you do, and what data is removed or retained.
1. How to delete your account
You can permanently delete your PerformanceLens account and the data associated with it directly from the web app:
- Open performancelens.app in your browser and sign in with your account email and password.
- Click the menu icon in the top-right and choose Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page, to the Danger Zone section.
- Click Delete My Account.
- Type your account email when prompted to confirm, then click Permanently Delete.
The mobile app does not yet offer in-app account deletion. Please use the web app for now — we are working on adding the same option to the mobile Settings screen in a future release.
The deletion is processed immediately. You will be signed out, any active subscription is cancelled in Stripe, and your data is removed within seconds.
If you cannot access the web app (for example, you have lost your password), email privacy@performancelens.app from the address tied to your account and we will process the deletion manually within 5 working days.
2. Data that is deleted
When your account is deleted, the following are immediately and permanently removed from our systems:
- Your email address, login credentials, and any account profile information
- All connected broker (MetaTrader 5) accounts and their data
- Encrypted trade history, P&L records, and equity-curve data
- Trade Copier configurations (master/slave pairings, signal queues)
- Portfolio groupings, strategy tags, and dashboard preferences
- Push notification tokens (you will receive no further notifications)
- Application logs and event records tied to your user ID
3. Data that is retained
A small number of records are retained briefly for legal, financial, or operational reasons. Where possible, personally-identifying information is minimised:
- Stripe payment and transaction records — retained for up to 7 years to comply with UK HMRC tax record-keeping requirements. These contain only your Stripe customer ID, billing amounts, and dates — they do not contain trading data, broker information, or app preferences.
- Database backups — our hosted database provider (Supabase) takes regular automated backups for disaster recovery. Your data may persist in these backups until they roll off Supabase's standard retention window (typically up to 30 days), after which they are purged automatically.
- Diagnostic logs and crash reports — anonymised error and performance data may persist in our third-party error monitoring system (Sentry) for up to 90 days. These contain stack traces and app-state metadata, not trading data or login credentials.
If you would like written confirmation once your data has rolled off backup snapshots, email privacy@performancelens.app and we will reply once the retention window has elapsed.
4. After deletion
- Any active PerformanceLens subscription is cancelled in Stripe at the moment of deletion. You will not be billed again.
- You can create a new PerformanceLens account using the same email address at any time, but the new account starts fresh — none of the deleted data is recoverable.
- Account deletion does not delete the data held by your broker (e.g. MT5 trade history at your broker's servers). PerformanceLens only ever held a synced copy.
